Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory departments while maintaining chain of custody
- Verify patient identification and maintain accurate documentation
- Operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment in sterile conditions
- Provide compassionate patient care during high-stress procedures
- Adhere strictly to OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA compliance standards
- Train new staff on phlebotomy best practices
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Proficiency in EHR documentation systems
- Exceptional attention to detail and infection control protocols
- Strong communication skills in English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume settings
- Valid Texas state license if applicable
