Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection techniques
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and processing for laboratory testing
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA
- Calibrate and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and procedures
- Collaborate with laboratory staff for efficient specimen workflow
- Adhere to OSHA and CLIA safety protocols
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASPT, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- Texas state phlebotomy license (if applicable)
- Excellent venipuncture skills with diverse patient populations
- Strong understanding of infection control and safety procedures
- Proficiency in LIS/HIS systems and electronic documentation
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical setting
- CPR certification required
