Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections following strict protocols
- Process and label specimens ensuring chain-of-custody compliance
- Utilize electronic health records for documentation and inventory management
- Provide exceptional patient care with emphasis on comfort and safety
- Collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams to ensure timely specimen handling
- Maintain sterile environments and adhere to OSHA/Biosafety standards
- Train new staff on phlebotomy procedures and equipment operation
Qualifications
- Current Alaska Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques for diverse patient populations
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and laboratory compliance regulations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced settings
- Experience with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
