Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections following strict protocols
- Process and handle specimens ensuring proper labeling and chain-of-custody
- Maintain sterile equipment and infection control standards
- Provide patient education and comfort during procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare teams for seamless patient care
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
- Adhere to HIPAA and OSHA regulations
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP/NCCT preferred)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in a hospital or lab setting
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Excellent venipuncture skills with minimal puncture attempts
- Strong attention to detail and specimen handling expertise
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
- North Carolina Phlebotomy license (if applicable)
- Exceptional patient communication and empathy skills
