Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws across diverse patient populations
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratory with strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines
- Maintain accurate patient records and electronic documentation systems
- Verify patient identity and prepare samples for testing using established protocols
- Provide patient education and comfort during blood collection procedures
- Calibrate and maintain phlebotomy equipment per manufacturer guidelines
- Collaborate with lab staff to resolve specimen collection issues
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting
- Current BLS/CPR certification from recognized provider
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong venipuncture skills with diverse patient populations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced clinical environments
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation
