Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection procedures
- Verify patient identity and maintain accurate specimen labeling
- Process and transport specimens to the laboratory with strict adherence to protocols
- Maintain sterile techniques and infection control standards
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) for documentation
- Provide patient education and comfort during procedures
- Collaborate with medical staff to resolve specimen collection issues
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASPT, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and CLIA regulations
- Excellent venipuncture skills for diverse patient populations
- Basic computer proficiency with EHR systems
- Valid CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- New Mexico Phlebotomy License (or ability to obtain immediately)
