Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and microcollection procedures with precision
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory facilities while maintaining chain of custody
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for analysis per HIPAA guidelines
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records systems
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of phlebotomy equipment
- Provide exceptional patient care during high-stress medical procedures
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize specimen collection workflows
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in venipuncture procedures
- Proficiency in specimen processing and handling protocols
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Strong attention to detail and infection control knowledge
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced medical environments
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- High school diploma or equivalent required
