Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all age groups with a focus on accuracy and patient comfort.
- Process, label, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory in strict accordance with CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and sterilize phlebotomy equipment after every use.
- Gather patient information, verify identity, and accurately complete all required documentation and consent forms.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of blood collection supplies and notifying supervisors of shortages.
- Handle difficult draws and patients with patience and professionalism, ensuring a positive experience.
- Collaborate with nurses and lab technicians to ensure timely processing of test results.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current North Carolina Phlebotomy license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred; new graduates with externship hours are encouraged to apply.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) strictly.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and medical staff.
