Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with a focus on patient comfort and safety.
- Accurately label, process, and store specimens according to established laboratory protocols and CLIA regulations.
- Verify patient identity and ensure all required consent forms are completed before drawing blood.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized work environment and sterilize equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
- Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, and physicians to resolve any issues regarding specimen collection.
- Assist with inventory management of blood collection supplies and notify supervisors when stock is low.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Attention to detail and adherence to strict safety and compliance standards.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
