Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections across diverse patient demographics
- Process and label specimens with meticulous attention to detail and HIPAA compliance
- Maintain sterile techniques and infection control protocols throughout procedures
- Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
- Provide exceptional patient education and emotional support during blood draws
- Collaborate with medical teams to ensure timely specimen processing
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health record systems
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years of clinical phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced setting
- Proven expertise in pediatric, geriatric, and difficult-stick collections
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and bloodborne pathogen standards
- Exceptional communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work independently while maintaining team collaboration
- Proficient in LIS and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Valid CPR certification and Pennsylvania state license
