Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collection following OSHA and CLIA standards
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for laboratory testing with meticulous attention to detail
- Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment while ensuring proper calibration
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures and alleviating anxiety
- Process specimens using LIS systems and maintain accurate documentation
- Adhere to infection control protocols and waste management guidelines
- Collaborate with lab and clinical teams to ensure timely specimen processing
Qualifications
- Current Texas Phlebotomy Technician certification (required)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting
- BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques for diverse patient populations
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality protocols
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
