Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and minimal discomfort
- Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing while maintaining chain of custody
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of all samples
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control protocols
- Utilize LIS systems for accurate specimen tracking and data entry
- Provide exceptional patient communication during blood draw procedures
- Calibrate and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies
Qualifications
- Current Arizona Phlebotomy Technician certification (PTC) required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or lab setting
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen processing
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Proficient in electronic health record systems (EHR)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Valid Arizona driver's license (if required for travel between sites)
