Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures following OSHA and CLIA regulations
- Process and label specimens accurately while maintaining chain of custody documentation
- Operate automated analyzers and maintain quality control protocols
- Provide exceptional patient care during specimen collection, including pediatric and geriatric populations
- Collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams to ensure timely specimen processing
- Maintain clean, organized workstations and equipment per infection control standards
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Current Florida Phlebotomy Technician certification (or equivalent multi-state certification)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in hospital or laboratory setting
- Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen processing
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality protocols
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated empathy for diverse patient populations
- Basic computer literacy for laboratory information systems (LIS)
- Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
