Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection procedures with strict adherence to infection control protocols
- Process and transport specimens accurately while maintaining chain of custody documentation
- Provide exceptional patient care with calming communication techniques for diverse populations including pediatric and geriatric patients
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including analyzers and centrifuges
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate specimen collection and labeling
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement programs
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or diagnostic setting
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Proven ability to perform under pressure with excellent time management skills
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional specimen handling accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in patient education and anxiety management
- Ability to lift 15-20 lbs and stand for extended periods
