Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Process and label specimens according to CLIA and HIPAA standards
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Verify patient identity and maintain accurate electronic health records
- Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed at all times
- Provide patient education on pre-test procedures and specimen collection
- Collaborate with medical staff to resolve specimen collection issues
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proficient in venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen processing
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for extended periods
