Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label blood specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized work environment in accordance with OSHA and CLIA guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate anxiety.
- Manage inventory levels of phlebotomy supplies and notify supervisors when restocking is needed.
- Assist with patient intake, registration, and electronic health record (EHR) updates.
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT, PBT, or equivalent) required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first approach.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as necessary.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records.
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or required depending on state regulations.
