Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with minimal discomfort and maximum safety.
- Accurately label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
- Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and provide a calming presence during procedures.
- Verify patient identity and medical information against requisitions to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and ensure equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
- CPR and BLS certification required.
- 1-2 years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred, but entry-level candidates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-service oriented mindset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
