Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws across diverse patient populations
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratory with strict adherence to protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and sample documentation
- Operate and calibrate phlebotomy equipment including vacuum tubes and analyzers
- Implement infection control standards and OSHA safety guidelines
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
- Collaborate with nursing and lab teams for seamless workflow
Qualifications
- Current New York State Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- CPR/BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Exceptional venipuncture skills with minimal complication rate
- Strong attention to detail and HIPAA compliance knowledge
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills across diverse demographics
