Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, including infants, children, and adults.
- Greet patients warmly, explain procedures clearly, and ensure their comfort and privacy during collection.
- Accurately label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory while strictly adhering to chain-of-custody protocols.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and safe work environment by following all OSHA and infection control guidelines.
- Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers prior to specimen collection.
- Assist in the preparation of blood banks and inventory management of supplies.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure accurate diagnostic testing.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Willingness to learn and complete our paid training program.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to de-escalate patient anxiety.
- Basic computer literacy for entering patient data into EMR systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation (often required for facility transport).
