Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections across diverse patient populations
- Process and handle specimens with strict adherence to HIPAA and OSHA protocols
- Maintain precise documentation using electronic health record systems
- Operate and calibrate phlebotomy equipment including vacutainers and centrifuges
- Provide patient education and comfort during blood draw procedures
- Collaborate with lab teams to ensure timely specimen transport and analysis
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and infection control practices
Qualifications
- Active Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in phlebotomy or related field
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques and specimen processing
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and safety protocols
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to ease patient anxiety
- Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner preferred)
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume settings
- Basic CPR certification
