Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identification and accurately label specimens to ensure compliance with HIPAA and laboratory standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile phlebotomy station and equipment.
- Assist patients by explaining procedures, answering questions, and alleviating anxiety before and during draws.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to troubleshoot issues and ensure timely specimen delivery.
- Document patient information and collection results accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA) is required.
- Current state licensure or certification (e.g., Ohio Board of Nursing or ASCP) required.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient service.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs when assisting patients.
