Responsibilities
- Perform Venipunctures: Accurately draw blood samples from patients using venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Patient Interaction: Comfort patients during procedures and provide clear instructions.
- Confidentiality: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Equipment Maintenance: Sterilize and maintain phlebotomy equipment and workstations.
- Record Keeping: Accurately record patient data and blood collection results in electronic health records.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, CPT, NHA) required.
- Licensure: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant or related degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months of recent clinical phlebotomy experience.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
