Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws with precision and patient comfort in mind.
- Verify patient identity and medical history prior to specimen collection.
- Label, process, and transport biological specimens to the lab efficiently.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Communicate test results and preparation instructions clearly to patients.
- Manage inventory of supplies and ensure phlebotomy equipment is sterilized and functional.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure accurate specimen handling.
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Certification (CPT, ASPT, NHA, or equivalent).
- State licensure required (where applicable).
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- CPR and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
