Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and microcollection procedures following strict aseptic protocols
- Process and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing
- Verify patient identification and maintain complete electronic health records
- Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and transportation to labs
- Provide patient education on blood collection procedures
- Maintain clean, organized workstations and calibrated equipment
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient flow
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, AMT, or NHA)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in blood collection
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume environments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling
- New Mexico phlebotomy license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
