Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, ensuring minimal discomfort and maximum accuracy.
- Strictly adhere to OSHA safety regulations, infection control protocols, and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Accurately label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Interact professionally and empathetically with patients to ensure a positive experience during blood collection.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the electronic health record system.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and physicians to facilitate efficient patient flow.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Certified Phlebotomy Student (CPT-I) certification required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
