Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and specimen collection following strict protocols
- Process and label biological specimens with meticulous attention to detail
- Maintain accurate patient records and electronic documentation systems
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA regulations
- Operate laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Provide patient education during blood collection procedures
- Collaborate with medical staff to resolve specimen collection issues
- Participate in quality control initiatives and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, AMT, or NHA)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in phlebotomy
- Strong understanding of infection control and safety procedures
- Excellent venipuncture skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced healthcare environments
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic computer proficiency with EHR systems
