Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patient health status, including vital signs and pain management, to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Medication Administration: Safely and accurately administer prescribed medications and treatments in strict adherence to hospital protocols and safety guidelines.
- Collaborative Care: Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed electronic health records (EHR) documenting patient care activities, changes in condition, and interventions provided.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on disease processes, discharge instructions, and self-care techniques to promote recovery and prevent readmission.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies and critical situations, demonstrating calmness and technical proficiency under pressure.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to hospital infection control policies and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe environment for all patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required within 6 months of hire.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think critically, prioritize tasks, and make sound clinical decisions in fast-paced settings.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and transfer patients, and perform physical requirements associated with nursing duties.
- Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills and ability to navigate Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
