Role Overview:
As a Registered Nurse at MedStar Health, you will play a pivotal role in the recovery and well-being of our patients. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and ensure the highest standards of safety and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on evidence-based practice.
- Administer medications and treatments in strict accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status, alerting the healthcare team to any changes or emergencies.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, and interventions accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the District of Columbia Board of Nursing.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred (Med-Surg or ICU experience highly desired).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Commitment to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
