Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and monitoring throughout the night shift, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established nursing protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) accurately and timely.
- Respond promptly to patient emergencies and critical situations utilizing advanced life support skills.
- Educate patients and families regarding their care plans, health conditions, and discharge instructions.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the District of Columbia.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) considered with significant experience.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience preferred, with specific experience in the relevant specialty area.
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-paced environment.
