Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments of patient health status to identify needs and determine appropriate nursing interventions.
- Direct Care: Provide high-quality, compassionate direct patient care, including assisting with daily living activities, hygiene, and mobility as needed.
- Vital Signs & Monitoring: Accurately monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and changes in patient condition, promptly reporting any abnormalities to the charge nurse or physician.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols, ensuring strict adherence to safety standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough electronic health records (EHR) documenting patient care activities, interventions, and responses.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medication purposes, and post-discharge care instructions.
Qualifications
- Education: Must possess a current, unencumbered RN license to practice in the state of Kentucky. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience: New graduate or less than 1 year of clinical experience required. Must have completed required clinical rotations.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) certification required. ACLS and PALS preferred depending on unit assignment.
- Skills: Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in computer systems for documentation.
- Attributes: Compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
