Role Overview:
As a Triage Nurse, you will be the critical first point of contact for patients seeking medical advice. You will assess symptoms, provide guidance on appropriate care, and facilitate timely appointments, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive phone and portal-based triage assessments for patients presenting with a wide range of symptoms, from minor ailments to acute concerns.
- Make clinical decisions regarding patient care instructions, including home care, medication administration, and emergency department referrals.
- Document all patient interactions and medical findings accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR).
- Collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care transitions.
- Educate patients on disease prevention, medication side effects, and health maintenance.
- Maintain strict adherence to medical protocols, compliance standards, and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state of Texas (TX).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a clinical or emergency setting.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and de-escalate tense situations.
- Ability to work independently while adhering to strict medical protocols.
