Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment & Care: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and implement individualized nursing care plans based on physician orders and patient needs.
- Medication Management: Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborative Care: Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, and the broader healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) documenting patient history, progress, and changes in condition.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, including Code Blue and trauma events, demonstrating critical thinking and leadership skills.
- Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to promote health literacy.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia.
- Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required (ACLS/PALS based on unit preference).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred; new graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) are encouraged to apply.
- Skills: Strong critical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and computer applications.
