Responsibilities
- Conduct Initial Patient Assessments: Perform comprehensive phone and virtual triage evaluations to determine the urgency of patient symptoms.
- Route Care Appropriately: Direct patients to the correct care setting, including Urgent Care, Emergency Room, or physician appointments.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient interactions, triage levels, and care plans in the EMR system.
- Provider Collaboration: Communicate with physicians and nurse practitioners to relay critical patient information and consult on complex cases.
- Patient Education: Provide clear instructions regarding medication, follow-up care, and symptom management.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance triage protocols and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Louisiana.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in triage, urgent care, or emergency medicine.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Decision Making: Ability to think critically and make sound medical decisions under pressure.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
