Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive health assessments and monitor patient conditions in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments in strict adherence to hospital protocols and physician orders.
- Provide direct patient care, including wound care, IV therapy, and ventilator management as required.
- Educate patients and their families on disease management, discharge planning, and health promotion strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Respond promptly to emergencies and critical situations with appropriate nursing interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other disciplines to ensure holistic patient care.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to the Sentara Code of Conduct and ethical standards.
