Responsibilities
- Specimen Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary draws efficiently and accurately using standard medical protocols.
- Patient Interaction: Build rapport with patients, explaining procedures clearly to ensure comfort and compliance.
- Sample Management: Label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory while adhering to chain-of-custody procedures.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to infection control, OSHA standards, and safety regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records and lab requisition forms.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all phlebotomy equipment is clean, sanitized, and functioning correctly.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Specialist certification required.
- Experience: 1-3 years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred; new grads with clinical rotations are considered.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Licensure: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
