Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit electronic claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on denied or unpaid claims
- Resolve billing discrepancies through patient and provider communication
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ACA, and healthcare billing regulations
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance and collection metrics
- Utilize Epic and NextGen EHR systems for claim processing
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with Alaska/Medicare/Medicaid claims
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, NextGen, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
