Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit claims using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Manage insurance claim follow-up and resolution of denials/underpayments
- Conduct patient billing inquiries and payment plan coordination
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain strict confidentiality standards
- Analyze billing reports to identify process improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize documentation for reimbursement
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certification as CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPC-A strongly preferred
- Expertise in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner
- Knowledge of NY Medicaid and commercial insurance protocols
- Exceptional attention to detail with 98%+ coding accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex billing scenarios
- Experience with claim scrubbing and denial management
