Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS guidelines
- Manage complex claim denials and appeals with 95% resolution rate
- Conduct thorough insurance verification and patient eligibility checks
- Optimize revenue cycle through A/R analysis and denial prevention strategies
- Collaborate with providers to ensure documentation compliance
- Generate monthly performance reports for practice leadership
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant patient data security protocols
Qualifications
- 5+ years of medical billing experience in outpatient or specialty care
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC credential required
- Advanced proficiency in Epic, NextGen, or Medisoft systems
- Demonstrated success with high-volume claim submission (500+ monthly)
- Expert knowledge of Virginia Medicaid and commercial insurance policies
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred
- Experience training junior billing staff
