Responsibilities
- Accurately code and bill complex medical procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Manage denial prevention and appeals processes for commercial and government payers
- Analyze claim discrepancies and resolve billing issues through payer negotiations
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and ACA regulations
- Generate revenue cycle reports and identify process improvement opportunities
- Train junior billing staff on coding best practices
- Collaborate with clinical departments to ensure documentation accuracy
Qualifications
- 5+ years of medical billing experience in specialty healthcare
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Expertise in Epic or NextGen EHR systems
- Advanced knowledge of Virginia Medicaid and Tricare billing guidelines
- Proven track record in reducing claim denials by 30%+
- Strong analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Experience with revenue cycle management software (e.g., Waystar, Change Healthcare)
