Responsibilities
- Submit and follow up on insurance claims using Epic EMR and NextGen platforms
- Analyze EOBs to identify underpayments and appeal denials effectively
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific regulations
- Reconcile patient accounts and resolve billing discrepancies within 48 hours
- Train junior billers on coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
- Generate monthly reports on AR aging and denial rates for department heads
- Collaborate with clinical staff to document charges accurately
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, NextGen, or similar)
- Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
- Strong analytical skills with 95%+ claims accuracy rate
- Experience with UB-04 and CMS-1500 claim forms
- Ability to meet 90%+ first-pass claim submission rate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
