Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Manage accounts receivable and resolve insurance claim denials within 30-day SLA
- Conduct thorough audits to ensure compliance with HIPAA and CMS regulations
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation discrepancies
- Optimize billing workflows through EHR system proficiency (Epic/Cerner preferred)
- Analyze aging reports and implement strategies to reduce A/R days
- Mentor junior billing staff on best practices and regulatory updates
Qualifications
- 5+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential required
- Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Advanced proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Athena, NextGen)
- Proven track record of reducing claim denials by 25%+
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
