Responsibilities
- Review and code medical records accurately using ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Submit and follow up on medical claims with insurance carriers (BCBS, Aetna, United, etc.).
- Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and resolve patient billing inquiries efficiently.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and gather necessary documentation prior to services.
- Handle claim denials and appeals to maximize revenue collection.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- CPC, COC, CEMC, or RHIT/RHIA certification preferred.
- Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner).
- Strong knowledge of HCPCS Level II codes and medical terminology.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance providers.
