Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance
- Manage inventory control systems including ordering, receiving, and rotating pharmaceutical products
- Provide exceptional patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and health maintenance
- Operate automated dispensing systems and maintain prescription records using pharmacy management software
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve medication discrepancies and ensure patient safety
- Maintain sterile compounding areas following USP 797 guidelines for IV and specialty medications
- Train new pharmacy technicians on standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Active Indiana Pharmacy Technician license with minimum 2 years of retail experience
- PTCB or ExCPT certification required (Compounding certification preferred)
- Proficient in pharmacy management systems (e.g., QS1, Rx30, or Omnicell)
- Strong knowledge of DEA regulations and controlled substance protocols
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to perform precise calculations
- CPR certification and immunization administration experience preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds regularly
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
