Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with advanced techniques
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory using HIPAA-compliant protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and electronic documentation systems
- Train junior technicians on best practices and safety procedures
- Operate automated blood collection equipment and quality control devices
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff for specialized patient care
- Implement infection control standards and emergency response protocols
Qualifications
- 3+ years of clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or lab setting
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT)
- BLS/CPR certification and phlebotomy continuing education credits
- Expertise in pediatric, geriatric, and difficult venipuncture access
- Proficiency with LIS/HIS systems and specimen processing software
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and CAP regulations
- Exceptional communication skills and patient rapport abilities
