Responsibilities
- Perform complex venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection procedures using advanced techniques
- Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment including automated analyzers and digital specimen tracking systems
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain impeccable documentation in our electronic health records platform
- Train junior technicians on best practices for patient interaction and sample integrity
- Collaborate with physicians and lab scientists on specialized diagnostic protocols
- Implement infection control protocols exceeding OSHA standards
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives for specimen handling and workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- 5+ years of phlebotomy experience in a high-volume diagnostic or research setting
- California Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) and current BLS certification
- Expertise in pediatric, geriatric, and difficult-access venipuncture
- Proficiency with LIS/HIS systems and digital specimen tracking
- Exceptional communication skills for diverse patient populations
- Experience with point-of-care testing and quality control procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-tech environment
- Associate's degree in Medical Technology or related field preferred
