Responsibilities
- Perform advanced venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection procedures with precision
- Train and mentor junior phlebotomy staff on best practices and regulatory compliance
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain strict patient confidentiality protocols
- Operate and calibrate advanced laboratory equipment including automated analyzers
- Collaborate with physicians and lab specialists to optimize specimen handling protocols
- Implement quality control measures and troubleshoot collection irregularities
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience with IV certification
- California Phlebotomy Technician license required
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Proven expertise in handling difficult draws and pediatric collections
- Strong knowledge of CLIA, OSHA, and CAP regulations
- Exceptional communication skills and patient rapport
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology preferred
- Experience with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
