Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring sterility and readiness for procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sutures, providing a smooth workflow in the operating room.
- Monitor and maintain sterile environments, adhering to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure zero loss and patient safety.
- Prepare and sterilize equipment and instruments using autoclaves and other sterilization methods.
- Provide patient care by positioning patients, applying drapes, and maintaining patient temperature control.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid Oregon State Technician License.
