Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Label, process, and prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis accurately and efficiently.
- Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure a comfortable and professional environment during collection.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards (OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA).
- Manage inventory of supplies, ensuring phlebotomy equipment is stocked and in working order.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to facilitate timely specimen collection and reporting.
- Document patient history and test results accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required (CPT-I or CPT-II).
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient comfort.
- Ability to lift and maneuver patients and equipment as necessary (up to 50 lbs).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
