Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Handle specimens and perform accurate documentation of surgical procedures
- Manage inventory and restock surgical supplies between cases
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, AORN, and facility-specific protocols
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year of scrub experience in general surgery
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and on-call
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced environments
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
