Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, surgical instruments, and equipment
- Assist surgeons during procedures including instrument passing, suturing, and wound closure
- Ensure proper sterilization and processing of surgical equipment per OSHA standards
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies to maintain optimal OR readiness
- Document surgical procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Maintain patient safety protocols and advocate for patient comfort
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless perioperative care
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general surgery
- BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Knowledge of sterile processing and HIPAA compliance
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation
- Colorado surgical tech license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
